Kohina in English
KOHINA is an active whitewater kayaking club, founded in 2006 in Finland. You can find the members of Kohina where the rapids roar: the Kymi river (Kymijoki), Vanhankaupunginkoski in Helsinki, and Neitikoski in Lieksa, as well as in the rapids of Norway. Our base camp is located in Kotka by the Kymi river, and is in active use from early May to mid September. During the winter, our activities take place in Helsinki and its immediate surroundings.
Kohina organises whitewater kayaking courses and kayaking trips for all ages.
In order to get the most out of our precious hobby, Kohina built a base camp, Kontti, on the shores of the Kymi river at Pernoonkoski. Kontti is made up of a club room, which can be used for courses, meetings, relaxation and accommodation, and a kitchen, sauna, toilet as well as plenty of storage for kayaks.
Kohina is a member of the Finnish Canoeing and Rowing Federation.
Kohina is a Finnish word for the roar of whitewater.
